Ratatat ? Classics (Aug. 2006) The second album by the collaborative efforts of Evan Mast and Mike Stroud are once again catchy, lyric-absent, ambient morsels of techno/dance ear candy. Classics picks up right where Ratatat?s first self-titled album left off and continues on an aural barrage of looped drum beats and synthesized effects. This album, however, finds the sonic duo adding more instruments to the musical arsenal including slide guitar, acoustic guitar, maracas, cello and sleigh bells. At times the album harkens back to, as the album title suggests, the ?classics? and the keyboards sound more like Beethoven, Chopin, or Handel than an electronic or techno band. Ratatat has recently toured with Interpol, the Killers, Mouse on Mars, Mogawi, Franz Ferdinand and the Faint.
