The Alkaline Trio release b-sides collection
Jan 30, 2007, Lucas Wright

"Remains" gives the die hard Trio collector everything he already has, but the DVD was a nice touch.

It is no secret that I love the Alkaline Trio. If you know anything about me this should be more than obvious. I?ll be the first to admit I have a man crush on Matt Skiba. But I?m having some mixed feelings about their newest release. It?s your run-of-the-mill b-sides collection that any band with more than half a dozen albums has. Here you can find all of those rare and hard to find tracks like Jaked on Green Beers, Hell Yes, Metro, My Standard Break From Life, and Dead End Road. Also included are songs from the Hot Water Music and the One Man Army split EPs as well as a few live tracks and b-sides to the newest singles. There is nothing here that the die-hard Trio fan hasn?t already heard, which is why I was a bit let down. I was hoping to find Angel Alcohol, Magic Bullets, Song for Julie, Demons Away or some of the harder to find tracks. The redeeming factor of this release is that there is a bonus DVD that contains all of the Alkaline Trio?s music videos as well as back-stage and live footage. This release was to mark the band?s last release on Vagrant Records. The Alkaline Trio signed to V2 records in October of 2006, but they were dropped from the label in January when the V2 announced that they were undergoing ?restructuring?. So now the band are free agents.
